Elize van der Merwe (founder of Green Key2Health)  is a registered Holistic Counsellor,  Practitioner, Wellness and Lifestyle Coach with a special interest in micro-nutrients and the role it plays in total wellness  She believes in a system approach focussing on body, mind, soul, and spirit. this approach enables her clients to take ownership and ignite their innate ability to heal themselves. She is particularly concerned with understanding the impact disease has on a person’s psyche and emotional health and how it varies between people and families. Elize is able to connect directly with clients and assist them with their emotional well-being in a professional and compassionate way. She has more than 6 years experience in Counselling and Coaching Cancer patients. Elize van der Merwe is pro-cancer research with a special focus on natural products, lifestyle suggestions, counseling and support to the whole family. Essential Oils

What are Essential oils and how do you use them?

Essential oils are highly concentrated oils extracted from various parts of plants   including the flower, bark, roots, leaves, wood, resin, seeds, or the rind (in the case of citrus fruits) Essential oils give plants their distinctive

smells, and

protect plants.

They also play a role in plant pollination. Because essential oils are volatile, it allows them to quickly move through the air and directly interact with the olfactory sensors in the nose.

Essential oils can be used for a wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. They can be used as single essential oils or in complex essential oil blends depending on user experience and desired benefit.

Essential oils are usually administered by one of three methods: diffused aromatically, applied topically, or taken internally as dietary supplements. Recent research suggests diluting essential oils for topical applications not only does not reduce effectiveness but may actually have certain advantages.  Diluting essential oils in a carrier before application accentuates their properties. The skin is our biggest organ and protects the body. Essential oils are easily absorbed through the skin.

  • The Sub-occipital Triangle is an ideal place to apply essential oils seeing that it sits at the base of the brain and close to the blood supply to the brain.
  • The bottoms of your feet hold the largest pores in your body and therefore absorb the oils easy
  • If you apply essential oils over the heart area it can be very smoothing
  • The essential oil added to a carrier oil can be applied directly to areas of discomfort

Our sense of smell influences lots of physiological pathways including the stimulation of hormones and other metabolic processes. Aromatherapy is founded on the body’s predictable response to specific olfactory stimuli. Oils can be defused to aid as a calming agent or as a stimulating agent depending on the need.  Aromatherapy oil can clean the air as well as kill of pathogens.

Always make sure if the oil is safe for internal use before ingesting it
